St. Augustine, Fla. (May 21, 2018) – Heidi Eddins Jimmerson has been elected to serve on the Betty Griffin Center Board of Directors.

“We’re excited to welcome Heidi to our board, especially with her nonprofit and foundation experience,” said Betty Griffin Center CEO Joyce Mahr.

Jimmerson had served as executive vice president, secretary and general counsel for Florida East Coast Industries, Inc. in Jacksonville until her retirement in 2008 – where she was also responsible for the company’s corporate philanthropy.

Prior to that, Jimmerson was vice president and general counsel with the Providence & Worcester Railroad Company in Worcester, Massachusetts, and began her legal career as an associate with the full-service legal and governmental affairs practice Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, PC in Hartford, Connecticut.

In addition to her professional career, she also brings several years of nonprofit board experience to the Center. She currently serves on the board of directors for Learn to Read. She previously served on nonprofit boards at United Way, Flagler Hospital, Flagler Hospital Foundation and Everyday People Initiating Change (EPIC).

She is also on the board of directors at Allete, Inc., an NYSE energy company based in Duluth, Minnesota – where she is currently lead director.

“I strongly believe in the mission of the Betty Griffin Center, and I’m amazed at its recent expansion of programs it offers survivors of domestic and sexual assault,” Jimmerson said.

She is a graduate of Leadership Florida and Leadership St. Johns and has served on the boards of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the St. Johns Chamber of Commerce.

She is admitted to the Florida Bar, passing the bar exam in 2008. Jimmerson received her Juris Doctor from the University School of Law with  honors – and her Bachelor of Arts from Boston College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
