St. Augustine, Fla. (Jan. 9, 2018) Representatives with Betty Griffin Center’s Green Dot Strategy will be at the gazebo on the Flagler College Campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 conducting a tabling event with prizes and donuts, where students can learn more about the Green Dot Strategy and register for the upcoming ‘Bystander Trainings’ in January.
The Green Dot Bystander Training gives participants the tools to stop violence they may see happening around them; Sexual Assault, Stalking, Dating Violence, Intimidation, and Domestic Violence. This National Green Dot Strategy was developed to reduce violence on college campuses and keep students safe.
The local Green Dot initiative is a collaboration with Flagler College and Betty Griffin Center aimed at involving students, faculty and administrators in developing a campus culture where violence of any type is not tolerated.
While students have an important role to play, the reality is that faculty, staff and administrators are also on campus and play a vital role to improve safety and in establishing what is important in reinforcing campus and community norms. Each semester, Flagler College faculty, staff and administrators can participate in an Overview Lunch and Learn to improve the quality of education and campus experience for all students.
Green Dot Bystander Trainings are scheduled on campus on Tuesday, Jan. 16 – Part 1 and Thursday Jan. 18 – Part 2 from 3:30 to 6 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 22 – Part 1 and Wednesday Jan. 24 – Part 2 from 3:30 to 6 p.m., and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21 Parts 1 & 2, and from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28 Parts 1 & 2. Registration is free, and refreshments are provided.
Participants who complete the program receive community service hours, along with t shirts, swag and a $25 gift certificate to Betty Griffin Thrift Stores.
