St. Augustine, Fla. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Erika Lang-Montgomery, the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Flagler College, has been elected to the Betty Griffin Center Board of Directors.
“I am humbled to be able to serve on the Betty Griffin Board of Directors, and excited for the opportunity to help educate and empower members of our community about the organization,” Lang-Montgomery said.
Now in her 10th season at Flagler, Lang-Montgomery is the winningest coach in Flagler women’s basketball history and the fifth-longest tenured active women’s basketball coach in the Peach Belt. She previously served as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at the University of North Texas and Wichita State University, and as assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Southern California, Florida State University and Purdue University.
“We’re excited to have someone as passionate as Erika join the board, especially given her many years of devotion to the mentoring and support of young women in sports on and off the court, as well,” said Betty Griffin Center CEO Joyce Mahr.
A native of Jacksonville, Lang-Montgomery graduated from nearby Bishop Kenny High School in 1988 – where she averaged 16.9 points and 13.8 rebounds per game to earn first-team All-City and second-team All-State honors as a senior.
She graduated from the University of Florida in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports sciences with a specialization in sports administration. She was also a four-year letter winner for the Gators and was selected to the 1989 All-Southeastern Conference Freshman Team.
