Judging will begin soon in selecting the top winners among hundreds of submissions received from St. Johns County students for the 2027 ‘A Day Without Violence’ Calendar.
The winning art entry of last year’s contest from Fruit Cove Middle School seventh-grader Kruthisri Muthyala Brigita Sniokaityte is pictured above.
The winners are selected by a group of independent artists. In addition to cash prizes awarded to the top winners (1st Place — $50; 2nd Place — $25; 11 Honorable Mentions — $10 each), winners will also receive special recognition during a St. Johns County School Board Meeting — with their artwork displayed at a local art gallery in October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
All 13 winning artists and 12 poets will also have their work reproduced in 2027 calendar. The agency prints more than 3,000 calendars for distribution throughout the county.
With the support of St. Johns County School Teachers, we receive around 1,000 art and poetry entries from students each year during the contest.
Any businesses or other donors interested in sponsoring the printing of the calendar should contact event coordinator Carole Sullivan at 904.808.8544, extension 201, or email caroles@bettygriffincenter.org
