We want to thank all our donors — and especially those who took time out of their busy schedules to buy tickets and attend our second annual breakfast on March 3 — who filled the room and made it our best meeting so far!
All proceeds from the breakfast will help us fund our emergency and support services, including an emergency shelter, two Rape Crisis Units, transitional housing, counseling, legal and financial education programs and preventive education programs.
The theme of the event was “Home,” and featured keynote speaker Amanda Price, CEO of the Florida Partnership to End Domestic Violence. She thanked those who support the center’s mission — and made a heartfelt plea during the event: “Please don’t stop supporting it,” she said. “Please support it more. Please volunteer more. Because it’s really critical, and the problem is immense — and it’s not going away. You are a huge component of the solution. You are, in fact, the solution. Nothing will be solved without you.”
After he comments, Keith Campbell of Campbell Plumbing and Mechanics, pledged $50,000 annually to help survivors get the housing they need — and Horschel Family Foundation CEO Brad Nelson announced that the foundation was pledging $100,000 over four years in unrestricted funds.
“We are so honored to be a part of the Betty Griffin Center and have this partnership that we know is going to go on for years to come,” Nelson said.
