A big thanks to all of our supporters who joined us at The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach on March 4 for our First Annual Betty Griffin Center Breakfast.

Guests heard from board members and executive director Kelly Franklin — learning how we help keep survivors of domestic and sexual violence safe as they navigate their journey from victim to living on their terms.

Our guest speakers included Madison Schemitz, the teen survivor of an attempted murder-suicide stabbing attack outside a Ponte Vedra restaurant last year that has left her paralyzed — who talked about the challenge and struggles she has overcome since the attack, along with Kristin Paul, a two-time award-winning author who spoke about the difficulties women experience — including domestic violence.

Proceeds from the breakfast will help us fund our emergency and support services, including an emergency shelter, two Rape Crisis Units, transitional housing, counseling, legal and financial education programs and preventive education programs.

We appreciated those who supported this event: our first breakfast to celebrate survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
